A left-facing open palm gesture, with the thumb on top and the pinky on the bottom, has been introduced to complement the existing Rightwards Hand emoji. This new Leftwards Hand emoji was designed to enable the creation of Handshake emoji sequences where each hand can be individually assigned a different skin tone modifier. The Leftwards Hand emoji was approved as part of Unicode 14.0 in 2021 and subsequently added to Emoji 14.0 in the same year, providing users with an expanded range of hand gesture options for their digital communication and visual content needs.
